The preliminary rough draft outlines of our second Informative Speech Topics will soon be due. Please email me (before the Library) a typed printout with your final choice of topic in a rough draft form for Informative Speech #2. If you have an idea of how to tie in to a theory or framework from your major/area of interest, mention that. If not, we will ask for ideas from the reference librarian while we’re there.
PLEASE LIST ALL THE STANDARD OUTLINE HEADINGS AND COMPLETE: GENERAL PURPOSE, SPECIFIC PURPOSE, ORGANIZATIONAL PATTERN, AND CENTRAL IDEA. Also include any idea of main points and/or outline you have thought of.
Assuming you did a “How To” for your first speech, Your topic may ONLY be one of the following:
1. PERSON (e.g. CESAR CHAVEZ, FIDEL CASTRO, NELSON MANDELA, MOHANDAS GHANDI)
2. OBJECT (NOT A “HOW TO DO,” THOUGH!!!) (e.g. THE HUMAN EYE, THE MAMMALIAN BRAIN,
CHARTRES CATHEDRAL, STOCK MARKET)
3. IDEA OR CONCEPT (e.g. CONSUMERISM, ALIENATION, RELATIVITY, PHILOSOPHY OF CHI,
EVOLUTION, EMOTIONAL ADDICTION, STRING THEORY)
4. EVENT (e.g. TSUNAMI, MLK DAY OF SERVICE, OBAMA INAUGURATION)
